The State Certificate of Greek Language (KPE) is the recognized title that proves the level of proficiency in the Greek language.

 

 

The KPE is needed:

for professional purposes

is considered a prerequisite for the possibility of practicing various professions in Greece.

 

for studies

enables B2 level certificate holders to enroll in a Greek higher education institution.

 

 

for appointment in the public sector

The C1 level certificate, as a prerequisite certificate of very good knowledge of Greek, provides the possibility to participate in recruitment procedures in the Greek government, to any citizen of the member states of the European Union who wishes to do so.

In addition, their knowledge of Greek for appointment in the public sector needs to be certified by:

a. foreign citizens of third countries, except member states of the European Union,

b. those who wish to acquire Greek citizenship by naturalization,

c. foreign expatriates.

 

As an additional qualification in the job search within and outside the European Union

The KPE is fully harmonized with the CEFR (Common European Reference Framework) and the Common Reference Levels and is recognized in all European countries, but also in many countries outside the EU. It includes 6 levels: A1 and A1 for children 8-12 years old, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2.
